Responsibilities
- Lead the College’s research program through personal research and curation of research from Pacific academics and policy-makers.
- Establish and lead the College’s program of short-term research interns.
- Assist the College’s research commentary on topical issues.
- Attract funding to grow the College’s research program.
- Involve in the College’s teaching programs.
- Support the College’s diplomatic efforts across the Pacific, including work with Pacific governments on national security strategies.
- Contribute to cross-disciplinary studies within the broader University environment.
- Work in partnership with academic and professional staff to support strategic priorities.
Requirements
- PhD or equivalent in a relevant field.
- Demonstrated research experience in Pacific studies or related areas.
- Ability to lead research projects and manage interns.
- Strong communication skills for engaging with academics and policy-makers.
- Experience in attracting research funding.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
- Understanding of national security issues in the Pacific region.

Responsibilities
- Lead the Research Partnerships team in developing and sustaining research collaborations aligned with RMIT’s Knowledge with Action Strategy.
- Represent the University's multidisciplinary research capabilities to industry, government, and community partners.
- Develop and implement partnership engagement strategies that align RMIT’s strengths with the Australian research funding landscape and policy environment.
- Drive growth in RMIT’s research partnership portfolio by fostering long-term relationships and strategic collaborations across the University.
- Manage partnership pipelines and identify opportunities for collaborative research initiatives.
- Ensure alignment with Category 1-4 Income opportunities.
- Work strategically with internal teams across IP & Commercialisation, Major Research Initiatives, and Research Proposals.
Requirements
- Demonstrated ability to effectively develop, lead, energise, motivate, and coordinate a team in a research environment.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Extensive experience in brokering research collaborations and partnerships across various disciplines.
- Expert judgment and flexibility to interpret and apply policies and provide strategic advice.
- Demonstrated experience in preparing reports, high-quality correspondence, and business cases.
- Substantial experience in the successful development and maintenance of corporate networks and relationships.
- Exceptional negotiation, influencing, and communication skills.
- Experience in project budget development and operational budget management.
