Responsibilities
Produce quality and impactful research in the area of human-centered AI.
Publish outputs in high quality outlets, such as AAAI, IJCAI, NeurIPs, CVPR, EMNLP, CHI, CSCW, FAccT, ICIS, HICSS, ECIS, or similar.
Work with the team and external domain experts in joint research projects and applications for competitive research funding support.
Develop a coherent research program and an emerging research profile in the area of human-centered artificial intelligence.
Teach part of one course per year within the School of EECS.
Contribute to the effective supervision of Honours and Higher Degree by Research students (as appropriate).
Work to promptly resolve conflict and grievances when they arise in accordance with University policy and procedures.
Demonstrate citizenship behaviours that align to the UQ values and with the missions and values of the lab.
Show emerging or developed leadership and self-management through collaboration and active participation in priority activities.
Contribute to internal service roles and administrative processes as required, including participation in decision-making and service on relevant committees.
Begin to develop external links and partnerships by cultivating relationships with industry, government departments, professional bodies and the wider community.
Requirements
Completion or near completion of a PhD in human-centred AI or closely related area.
Evidence of human-centred AI publications in reputed refereed journals and presenting at conferences such as AAAI, IJCAI, NeurIPs, CVPR, EMNLP, CHI, CSCW, FAccT, ICIS, HICSS, ECIS, or similar.
Experience in conducting human behavioural experiments or human-centered field studies.
Demonstrated experience in using machine learning, such as deep learning for image processing, or natural language processing/LLMs.
Demonstrated software engineering/development abilities, and the use of tools for software engineering.
Demonstrated experience in the area of trust, reliance, explainability/interpretability, decision support, or cognitive/social psychology; as applied to artificial intelligence.
