About the Role
Join our dynamic team as a Fees and Compliance Support Adviser, where you'll play a crucial role in coordinating administrative processes for Government Loan Schemes (FEE-HELP, HECS-HELP, SA-HELP, OS-HELP). Under the guidance of the Team Leader, you'll ensure the University meets its obligations under the Higher Education Support Act 2003 (HESA), supporting the Fees team for smooth operation and compliance. You'll also contribute to system reviews and the development of improved customer services to enhance the student experience at the University of Melbourne. Your role will involve providing accurate information to students, stakeholders, and government departments, supporting the broader Fees portfolio, and collaborating across various teams to ensure efficient service delivery
Your responsibilities will include:
- Supporting the management of administrative processes for Government Loan Schemes (FEE-HELP, HECS-HELP, SA-HELP, OS-HELP) to ensure legislative compliance efficiently.
- Auditing student requests for Government Assistance HELP Loan Schemes to confirm eligibility.
- Supporting post-census date "Clear Government Deferrable Debt and Commonwealth Assistance Notice" processes to ensure data integrity.
- Supporting the broader Fees team as required.
Who we are looking for
We’re seeking someone with exceptional organisational skills who is adept at planning, prioritizing, monitoring, and evaluating tasks to ensure timely delivery in a dynamic, high-pressure environment. You will have a thorough understanding of the enrolment process and its impact on fees and compliance, along with the ability to build strong relationships with Enrolments, Student Services, and Systems teams. Your strong communication and interpersonal skills will be essential, as you’ll provide consistent, high-quality advice on government legislation and University policies to both students and staff. Experience in process improvement and participating in cross-functional working groups to drive positive change is also highly valued.
You will also have:
- Relevant degree or substantial experience, or a combination of both.
- High data literacy and extensive expertise with the StudentOne database.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, especially Excel, for data auditing and analysis.

This role requires the successful candidate to undergo and maintain an up-to-date Working with Children Check. This is essential to guarantee a secure environment for all individuals at the University. In the case the selected candidate doesn't have a valid Working with Children Check, they will be able to apply for the WWCC as part of the initial onboarding procedures.
