Responsibilities
Conduct and analyse research on Alzheimer's disease, contribute to quality research outputs, and seek competitive funding.
Co-supervise and support research students, develop research group skills, and manage research staff effectively.

Requirements
Completion or near completion of a PhD in the discipline area of molecular and cellular biology or a related biological discipline.
Evidence of publications in reputed refereed journals.
Experience with primary neuronal cultures.
Experience in molecular biology and biochemical techniques including cloning, mutagenesis, lentiviral vector preparation and transduction, PCR, qPCR, etc.
Experience in advanced imaging techniques, such as super-resolution microscopy, is desirable.
Ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team and independently, with strong problem-solving and organisational skills.
Experience or familiarity with omics approaches.

Responsibilities
Assist with conducting experiments in adult mice.
Support the performance of small animal survival stereotaxic surgery including the insertion of guide cannula, infusion of pharmacological agents, and other surgical procedures as may be necessary.
Supporting general histological evaluation of animal tissue including tissue sectioning, staining, immunohistochemical labelling, microscopic imaging, tissue maintenance and storage.

Demonstrated ability to support and analyse chemogenetic, pharmacogenetic, optogenetic and using various viruses and appropriate optical imaging tools.
Ability to work closely as part of a team and strategically contribute to research outcomes.
High level of computing skills including databases, spreadsheets and graphical programs.
Proficient in immunohistochemistry.
Skills in microscopy, particularly with confocal microscopy.
A thorough understanding of experimental design, statistics and statistical methods.

Work closely with the Neuroimaging team and the wider Motor Neuron Disease Research Teams.

Assist in identifying new mechanisms of disease and development of new therapies for MND/dementia.
Utilize zebrafish as a model system and advanced microscopy workflows to characterize disease processes.
Requirements
A PhD in molecular biology, cell biology, molecular neuroscience or related disciplines.
Demonstrated record in contributing to research projects including planning and conducting experiments, analysis of data, and problem-solving.
Strong background in cell biology, microscopy, and/or molecular neuroscience.
Experience in cell biology or animal biology techniques such as cell culture maintenance, animal handling, confocal microscopy, cloning, transfections and transductions, western blotting, immunofluorescence microscopy, flow cytometry and/or immunoprecipitations.
Experience with zebrafish or other live-imaging approaches (desired).
Experience with in-vivo experimental models, proteomics, mass spectrometry (desired).
Recognised contributions to the preparation and analysis of research data, drafting reports and manuscripts for presentation and publication.
Ability to work effectively within a team.
