Responsibilities
- Support users on advanced electron microscopy equipment
- Collaborate closely with a diverse range of academics
- Manage and train users in Scanning electron microscopy and other related techniques
- Carry out high quality research developing testing /techniques in the field of surface, volume and/or elemental analysis
- Develop standard operating procedures (SOPs) for the instrumentation and procedure the appointee will be responsible for
- Prepare and present technical reports, conference and seminar papers and publications associated with research projects
- Contribute to training, scientific mentoring and supervision of students
- Oversee the day-to-day use and maintenance of the surface and analytical instrumentation
Requirements
- A PhD in Science, Engineering, or related discipline
- Advanced postdoctoral experience and expertise in SEM and/or TEM and elemental analysis
- Postdoctoral research experience in using scanning electron microscopes and related equipment
- Advanced hand-on research experience in electron microscopy and elemental analysis
- This role requires that the successful candidate must undergo and maintain an up-to-date Working with Children Check

Salary
- Total full-time remuneration $128,506 pa (pro-rated). Includes salary of $108,581 pa (pro-rated), employer super contributions of 17% and annual leave loading.
Responsibilities
- Produce focused, mixed methods research outputs that contribute to high quality fundamental or applied research to meet the requirements of Work Package 1.
- Oversee higher degree research supervision and completions.
- Engage in externally funded research projects and/or secure external research funding.
- Develop external relationships with academics from partnered institutions and research centres, in addition to community and industry representatives.
- Participate in impactful engagement and service activities linked to the Research Project.
Requirements
- Relevant qualifications in a related field.
- Knowledge of the provision and evaluation of psychosocial support services and associated health, social services, legislative and community sectors relevant to marginalised populations and/or project target population with IVSC.
- Professional experience and/or research expertise in a relevant discipline.
- Demonstrated experience in publishing impactful research that advances understanding of marginalised/vulnerable populations or delivery of targeted services or psychosocial interventions.
- High level oral and written communication and interpersonal skills, relating well to people at all levels using diplomacy, tact and sound judgement.
