Responsibilities
Recruit, train, and supervise graduate, and undergraduate peer tutors for subject areas and writing for both on-campus and online tutoring.
Ensure appropriate response to student queries for tutoring within 24 to 48 hours.
Utilize relevant software to schedule, track, and report utilization of tutoring services.
Maintain current knowledge of trends and best practices in tutoring and writing support.

Collaborate with faculty and other SASC staff to strengthen all academic support services.
Assist in maintaining tutoring-related content on SASC intranet site and other electronic media that accurately and efficiently connects SASC resources to students.
Attend new student orientations, open houses and recruitment events as needed.
Assist in maintaining the SASC as an inviting study space, maintain up-to-date print and electronic resources for tutors including models, equipment, and textbooks relevant to UNE courses.
In coordination with UNE libraries, bookstore, and Information Technology, develop and maintain SASC references/resources for tutors.
Commit to actively fostering a welcoming culture of inclusion and diversity.
Complete UNE new employee orientation and sexual harassment training within 30 days of the date of hire.
Understand and comply with the University of New England Safety Manual.
Perform other related duties as assigned.
Requirements
Master’s degree in Education or similar and at least two years’ experience working in a post-secondary tutoring or writing center setting or a combination of education and experience from which comparable knowledge and skills are acquired.
Online education experience desired.
The successful candidate will be proficient with learning management systems and other technologies that support learning centers.
Experience with College Reading and Learning Association International Tutor Training Program strongly preferred.
Excellent teaching and motivational skills; ability to work with students both individually and in small groups; ability to adapt to diverse learning needs; sensitivity to needs of under-prepared and struggling students and adult and online learners.
Demonstrated knowledge of post-secondary tutoring systems and pedagogy.
Ability to plan and deliver comprehensive tutor training from introductory to advanced levels.
Excellent interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills.
Ability to work independently, without direct supervision; organize workflow, prioritize tasks, and complete projects by target dates.
