Salary
Base salary range: $147,700 – $153,454 p.a. (pro-rata) plus 17% superannuation.
Responsibilities
Act as the University's Animal Welfare Officer, ensuring compliance with ethical standards and regulations for the care and use of animals in research and teaching.
Provide strategic advice on animal welfare practices, collaborating with senior leaders and supporting the Animal Ethics Committee (AEC).
Conduct inspections of animal facilities and offer expert guidance to researchers, promoting best practices in animal welfare across the University.
Requirements
A veterinary degree or extensive practical experience in animal welfare.
Deep knowledge of legislative and regulatory frameworks governing animal welfare.
Proven experience in the ethical use of animals in research and teaching.
Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to deliver high-level advice and training.
Ability to work independently, show initiative, and manage complex responsibilities effectively.
Availability to take work-related calls after hours.
Occasional weekend and after-hours visits to animal facilities.
Current C Class Driver’s Licence.
