Responsibilities
Fund an Indigenous doctorate candidate on subject matter relating to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander participation and leadership in politics.
Consider subject matter relating to Indigenous rights and recognition within public policy or international relations.
Supervised by a team including an Indigenous political science lecturer.
Requirements
Be of Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander descent, who identify themselves as such, and are accepted by the community.
A Bachelor degree with first-class honours or second-class honours (Division A) or a Masters degree with a significant research component from a recognised institution.
A record of research or a qualification deemed comparable to a Bachelor degree with second-class honours (Division A).
Enrolment in the program must be full-time.
Benefits
Annual stipend of $52,000 (2024 rate, indexed annually) paid on a fortnightly basis and tax exempt.

Responsibilities
Manage the effective and efficient operations of the School of Political Science and International Studies.
Supervise all operational functions of the School to ensure organisational and financial sustainability.
Advise the Head of School on University, Faculty and School policies, operations, legislative requirements, budget management, and core business processes.
Contribute to School strategic and operational management, service design, and delivery within the broader Faculty and UQ professional services operating environment.
Assist the HoS and School Executive to develop strategy; define, operationalise and achieve School priorities; and establish measures of success.
Coordinate review and reporting processes for the School, Faculty and University.
Advise the HoS on enabling organisational structures which facilitate the implementation of strategy.
Assist with the development and funding of agreements with outside agencies.
Facilitate the efficient operation of research and commercial projects by ensuring that appropriate administrative systems are in place.
Ensure School and Faculty design and deliver a seamless experience to staff, students and industry and other external stakeholders.
Build collaborative relationships which bring strategic focus to the School and Faculty.
Provide management assurance that current and emerging risks are being managed through effective general management controls within the School.
Ensure compliance with statutes, regulations and professional standards unique to the School and Faculty Community.
Requirements
A postgraduate degree with relevant experience in a university or similar environment; or an equivalent combination of relevant experience and/or education/training is required.
Work experience in a relevant leadership role, preferably within a tertiary education environment, including financial and budget planning, human resource management, and student/academic administration and facilities management.
Ability to act independently and take initiatives with minimal direction, within established policies and guidelines, in a complex financial and human resource environment.
Advanced ability to devise administrative strategies, policies and systems and to analyse and interpret resulting data.
Demonstrated leadership ability, particularly in leading, motivating and developing multi-site teams to achieve operational objectives and balance competing priorities.
High level communication and interpersonal skills including demonstrated ability to liaise and consult; edit, write and prepare reports and submissions; negotiate complex issues and manage change; and communicate with diverse groups.
An awareness and understanding of the culture and challenges facing a global university.
