Responsibilities
Assist the MACSYS University of Melbourne Node Leader in managing personnel, office accommodation, and other resources at the Node.
Support MACSYS operationally in the running and administration of MACSYS and related research activities, including helping to maintain the MACSYS website and assisting with the administration of internal grant programs and research support schemes.
Briefing senior management on matters arising and implementing their decisions.
Collecting and analysing data on MACSYS projects and research outputs, and reporting on their outcomes.
Assist MACSYS academics in their research and capacity building activities.
Requirements
A tertiary qualification or an equivalent combination of relevant experience and/or education/training.
Experience working with universities or higher education institutions is highly desirable.
Familiarity with the University of Melbourne’s administrative, hiring, financial, facilities, and HR systems and processes.
Ability to work with, and support the needs of diverse and multidisciplinary cohorts and groups of academics, researchers, and research students in the life and mathematical sciences.
A track record in supporting academic and research management activities.

Salary
Total remuneration valued to $151,211 - $161,352 total rem (pro rata) pa, including salary component $127,838 - $136,506 (pro rata) pa (HEW 9), employer contribution to superannuation and annual leave loading. 17% employer superannuation contributions to eligible continuing and fixed-term staff. Annual leave loading of an equivalent to 17.5% of four weeks' salary pro rata payable, dependent on your commencement date.
Responsibilities
Lead the development of process improvement ideas into business options and provide recommendations to improve student administration processes for students and staff.
Lead the delivery of high-quality analysis, documentation and implementation of recommendations to improve these processes in order to reduce the administration burden on staff.
Work collaboratively with leaders in the Student Systems Team to share resources and ensure the effective delivery of all student systems services and projects.
Maintain awareness of policy changes, vendor roadmaps and product capabilities to provide expert advice on all matters concerning improvement of curriculum and student administration processes.
Evaluate new business improvement and project requests to establish scope and complexity.
Set standards and develop templates for documentation to support end-to-end project lifecycle.
Lead requirements gathering and options assessment on large and compile initiatives and make recommendations.
Keep abreast of developments in vendor products including new functionality, roadmaps and best practice.

Requirements
Hold a doctoral qualification in Microbiology, Biochemistry, or a closely related field
Have a strong background in molecular biology focusing on microbial physiology, gene regulation, or membrane biology
Be familiar with 'omics' level techniques
Have demonstrated manuscript preparation skills with a track record of impactful research publications
Have excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to produce clear, succinct reports and documents
