Base salary will be in the range $89,861.38 - $96,402.32 + 17% Superannuation (HEW Level 6)
Responsibilities
Plan and conduct high quality laboratory work within an established research group focusing on vaccine development
Undertakes advanced elements of research, in accordance with the scientific/research discipline of molecular biology, biotechnology and immunology.
Thorough recording of results using an electronic lab book format
Standard procedures involving laboratory mice including immunisations, blood draws and sacrifice
Ensures a high standard of research housekeeping, waste disposal, sample storage, and chemical/specimen/sample inventory management.
Assists with developing a proactive safety culture and implements continuous improvement.
Assists with the development of research/analytical protocols.
Performs standard maintenance of instruments/equipment to ensure optimal performance.
Ensures compliance with approved ethics protocols.
Contributes to research outputs, joint preparation, and authorship of reports/manuscripts.
Records and documents outcomes from experiments.
Assists with designing complex research studies.
Other duties, as reasonable directed by the supervisor.
Requirements
Completion of a relevant degree in microbiology, immunology, molecular biology or related field with subsequent experience or an equivalent combination of relevant experience and/or education/training.
Demonstrated experience with the general techniques of molecular biology including cloning, protein expression, purification, ELISA and mammalian cell culture
Experience in animal handling and research involving animals
Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues.
Ability to take instructions and receive feedback in a fast paced and high pressure environment.
Well organised with thorough attention to detail in the recording of research methods and results

Detailed knowledge of legislative requirements and operating procedures for major areas of research and scientific safety such as quarantine procedures, waste disposal, labelling and risk assessment.

Responsibilities
Develop an ambitious mRNA research program to develop new mRNA cancer therapies.
Lead development of the Australian Cancer Vaccine Centre.
Produce quality research outputs consistent with discipline norms by publishing or exhibiting in high quality outlets.
Lead applications for competitive research funding to support projects and activities.
Work with a passionate team of mRNA scientists on joint research projects and applications for competitive research funding support.
Contribute to progressing towards transfer of knowledge, technology and practices to research end users through translation, including commercialisation of UQ intellectual property.
Develop a coherent research program and an emerging research profile.
Review and draw upon best practice research methodologies.
Partner with industry leaders on novel technology development.
Contribute to the supervision of Honours and Higher Degree by Research students, supervise and manage researcher development, provide performance feedback and training, resolve conflicts, and ensure correct remuneration and benefits.
Develop partnerships, demonstrate leadership through mentoring, engage in internal service roles and committees, perform administrative functions, provide support to colleagues, and uphold university values.
Requirements
Completion or near completion of a PhD in mRNA sciences, molecular biology, immunology or related discipline.
An emerging profile in research in molecular biology/cancer research/immunology.
Evidence of publications in reputed refereed journals and presenting at conferences.
Evidence of contributions towards successfully obtaining external research funding.
Some experience in meaningful internal service roles and contributions towards external activities.
Competitive for national fellowship schemes (e.g NHMRC and ARC) by the end of three year period.

Responsibilities
Support the Infection Analytics Program in the development of a Framework for Evidence Evaluation in Vaccine Assessment (FEEVA).
Supervise and carry out literature reviews in the area of vaccine development to produce reports and publications.
Liaise closely with the Australian Living Evidence Collaboration (ALEC, Monash University) to contribute to their work.
Requirements
Demonstrated experience in research protocols, evidence synthesis and assessment; experience with GRADE methods is highly desirable.
Substantial expertise in Immunology, Infectious Diseases and/or Vaccine development is highly desirable.
A PhD in a related discipline, and proven track record of high-level research outputs in the field including publications.
Evidence of supervision of projects and personnel (including students) to achieve timely research productivity.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, a demonstrated ability to liaise effectively with a diverse range of stakeholders and build effective relationships.
Superior time management skills, with an ability to work independently to achieve a high quality of outcome.
Proven commitment to proactively keeping up to date with discipline knowledge and developments.
Sound analytical and problem-solving skills, including the ability to solve problems by taking initiative, using discretion and demonstrating attention to detail.
Advanced computer literacy, including the ability to learn and adopt new software packages as required. Demonstrated high-level proficiency in the MS Office Suite (Word, Excel and PowerPoint) essential; Covidence skills desirable.
