Salary
Base salary range: $76,686 - $103,202 p.a. plus 17% superannuation
Responsibilities
Conduct research on quantum imaging systems including office-based research, laboratory experiments, telescope observations, and application of quantum information theory directed towards developing large-scale quantum interferometers for astronomical applications.
Collaborate with the Astrophotonics group at ICRAR-UWA and partner organisations including the ARC Centre of Excellence for Engineered Quantum Systems (EQUS.
Requirements
PhD (or soon to be submitted) in physics, engineering, or related discipline.
Experience in one or more of the following: optical or quantum metrology, experimental and/or theoretical quantum optics or quantum information, experimental fibre or free-space optics, particularly optical interferometry.
Experience with high-quality supervision of Masters and PhD students.
Experience with programming and simulation in Python or MATLAB, or programming in hardware description languages for FPGAs, an advantage.

Engage in professional activities, including attending relevant seminars and conferences
Support limited administrative functions and develop research-related materials for teaching as needed
Design and execute advanced laboratory experiments, utilizing sophisticated equipment and methodologies
Offer guidance within your research field to postgraduate students and participate in relevant meetings and committees
Requirements
A doctoral qualification in a relevant discipline or a closely related field
Proven research skills, including manuscript preparation and a track record of refereed publications
Strong analytical abilities, problem-solving skills, and innovative thinking
Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to produce clear and concise reports
Organizational skills to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines
Experience in iPSC cell culture, differentiation, organ-on-chip technology, muscle biology, and microscopy
Proficiency in Microsoft Office and other relevant software, with a willingness to learn new tools
