About the opportunity
The biomechanics/sport science role will see you working alongside Dr Suzi Edwards’ research team to analyse 3D biomechanical motion of basketball game/plays, captured by a 3D mocap and analyse all 3D motion data with complex biomechanical analysis software.
The Research Assistant will utilise several sports technology platforms, including 3D biomechanical analysis software, to analyse the 3D kinematic data giving you exposure to and experience in understanding complex 3D movements in game situations.

Your key responsibilities will be
- Ensures that research protocols are adhered to, and report any adjustments that might be necessary
- Independent work to conduct 3D motion data analysis with complex 3D biomechanical analysis software (Qualisys and Visual 3D software) of multisubject players within a game situation
- Records and stores quantitative data in appropriate biomechanical and statistical software
- Prepares all necessary records/documentation and exportation of data in a timely and concise manner, adhering to grant timelines and milestones
- Works co-operatively and collaboratively with other research staff
- Undertakes ad-hoc sports science related projects and other activities related to the project
You will have
- Experience in the use of 3D Motion Capture Software (e.g., Qualisys or Vicon) is essential.
- Experience in the use of 3D Motion Analysis Software Visual 3D (i.e., C-Motion) is essential.
- Have qualifications in exercise and sports science, biomechanics/engineering or health related field OR an interest in working towards a role in exercise and sports science.
- Excellent attention to detail
- Comprehensive knowledge of the game of basketball demonstrated by either a playing, coaching or refereeing background is desirable.
