The Opportunity
At UniSC we are currently seeking a Senior Manager, Operations to help lead the Graduate Research School. This pivotal role involves setting team goals, managing workflows aligned with our research strategy, and developing a robust staffing strategy. As the central point of contact for HDR programs, the Senior Manager will offer strategic and operational advice to senior staff, researchers, and professional colleagues. With a commitment to accuracy and timeliness, the Senior Manager will empower team members to deliver exceptional support and guidance, contributing to the university's mission of fostering innovation and excellence in research.
We are seeking an incumbent to job-share the role in a fixed-term, part-time capacity until to the end of 2025. The role will be divided across two portfolios of work:
- 3 days per week HDR Partnerships, Scholarships and Admissions
- 2 days per week HDR Candidature Progression and Completions (open for applications)
The appointed applicant will be responsible for the full functions of the role for one of the above portfolios, depending on their background in higher degrees by research coordination and management.
You will
- lead and manage HDR Partnerships, Scholarships, Admissions, and Candidature Progression operations at the Graduate Research School;
- oversee the development of candidature management and research partnership systems; and
- act as the central point of contact and expert for HDR programs, offering support and guidance.

Empowering staff to confidently apply policies is essential, as is fostering strong relationships both internally and externally. You'll streamline workflows across the university, ensuring efficiency is at the forefront. And when it comes to compliance activities like TEQSA re-registration, you'll ensure we meet every requirement. Your insights will drive our institution forward, making a real impact in higher education.
You will possess:
- Demonstrated expertise in interpreting and applying government policies and guidelines for higher degrees by research.
- Advanced computer skills, including significant experience with information systems and HDR candidature management reporting.
- Exceptional interpersonal abilities, adept at effectively communicating ideas to diverse stakeholders and influencing broader institutional objectives.
- Proven track record in research leadership and comprehensive knowledge of HDR and research development.
- Solid grasp of broader research issues within the higher education sector
