We now have an exciting opportunity for a Payroll Assistant, known at JCU as a Remuneration Services Assistant, to join our team in the Human Resources Directorate.
Details:
- Full time, continuing basis
- Based at the Townsville Bebegu Yumba campus in Douglas
- HEWL 4: $68,694 - $72,973 + 17% superannuation, with a 3% pay increase from July 2025.
WHAT YOU CAN ACCOMPLISH IN THE ROLE
JCU is recruiting a Remuneration Services Assistant who is passionate about working in a payroll environment with other experienced payroll professionals. Our ideal candidate will be eager to learn, enjoy a consistent day-to-day routine, and appreciate opportunities for development. As a Remuneration Services Assistant your contributions will significantly assist with enhancing the efficiency and level of customer support of payroll processes while also providing accuracy to the Remuneration function.
Your all-round payroll support will make you a valuable asset to the team. Responsibilities include:
- Payroll data entry – timesheets, leave, separation certificates, employment verifications, work arrangements and case driven data entry using strong attention to detail
- Superannuation reporting, reconciliations, payment processing along with superannuation administration
- Payroll queries – addressing staff enquiries regarding payroll and superannuation matters with clarity and patience, providing our staff the information and knowledge they need to ensure compliance
- Customer service excellence – delivering supportive customer service and coaching to educate staff on complex systems, entitlements and processes, ensuring they are well-informed and empowered
- Team administrative tasks including reviewing payroll tools, guides and communications
WHAT YOU WILL BRING TO THE ROLE
You will bring enthusiasm, commitment and experience coupled with a desire to learn JCU processes and systems, specifically superannuation administration and payroll processing. You will enjoy a role that provides consistency and stability in your day-to-day schedule while operating in an environment focused on continuous improvement.
A passion for payroll is essential to ensure your success in this role. Experience working in large and/or complex organisations is beneficial or a strong desire to learn and work in a complex, task-orientated payroll team working to meet defined timeframes and deadlines.
