The Opportunity
The Institute of Railway Technology (IRT) is the premier track and vehicle research centre in Australia, and it provides world-leading solutions in the areas of wheel-rail interface design, track design and maintenance as well as rollingstock assessments and modelling. IRT undertakes technology development, applied research and consulting activities for the railway industry.
IRT is currently recruiting for a Deputy Team Lead in Data Analytics.
As the Deputy Team Lead, you will play a critical role in supporting the achievement of objectives and deployment of resources for the delivery of IRT projects, by deputising and assisting the Team Lead of Data Analytics.
You will be responsible for managing technical activities, projects and deliverables related to a wide variety of rollingstock and track related developments. You will assist in developing new and improved algorithms to assess vehicle and track performance to identify defects, ensuring they do not contribute to any disastrous consequences. You will also play a key role in the development of new database architectures used within IRT including management of data security and governance.
To be successful in this role, you will hold a postgraduate degree in engineering and significant relevant industry experience. You will have demonstrated knowledge in the application of data analytic techniques including machine learning statistics and algorithm development. You will also be proficient in database management and programming languages such as C#, C++, Python and SQL.
