Responsibilities
  • Develop and maintain data pipelines.
  • Ensure code quality and adhere to best practices for data ingestion, integration, and consumption.
  • Prioritize security, data governance, and DevOps principles.
  • Implement data solutions and drive continuous improvements on the platform.
  • Ensure the efficient functioning of data workflows.
  • Align data and analytics solutions with the university’s strategic objectives.
  • Engage in ongoing improvement initiatives and collaborate with colleagues to achieve project targets.

Requirements
  • Demonstrated expert level skills in data engineering technologies including SQL, APIs, Apache Spark, and Python.
  • Skilled on cloud data architectures and Big Data Analytics in AWS Stack (Athena, Glue, Kinesis, Redshift, Step functions, Lambda, EMR, S3, DynamoDB, Postgres).
  • Solid hands-on experience on advanced SQL techniques on cloud data warehouse technologies e.g. Redshift, Databricks lake house etc.
  • Expertise in data lake ingestion tools such as Fivetran, Matillion, Informatica, or similar.
  • Experience implementing a DataOps framework and with CI/CD highly preferred.
  • Ability to lead projects, guide junior engineers and mentor others.
  • Post graduate degree (or progress towards) in Computer Science, or a related field with significant experience; or an equivalent combination of significant experience and/or education and training.
  • Relevant Certifications (e.g. AWS Certification).
