Senior Biostatistician and Data Science Lead

Salary
  • (Level C) $135,388 to $155,696 per annum plus an employer contribution of 17% superannuation applies.

Responsibilities
  • Lead biostatistical and data science initiatives at the cutting edge of cancer research.
  • Spearhead statistical analyses and data-driven approaches to accelerate research at SAiGENCI.
  • Collaborate with world-class researchers and contribute to the development of innovative computational methods for cancer diagnosis and treatment.
  • Shape the direction of data science initiatives at SAiGENCI by working closely with researchers and fostering connections to cooperative research centres and networks.

Requirements
  • PhD in Biostatistics or an equivalent field with an understanding of bioinformatics and associated biology.
  • Track record of collaborative publications.
  • Demonstrated expertise in standard clinical biostatistics and multi-omics data integration.
  • Proficiency in relevant programming languages (e.g., R, Python).
  • Strong willingness to collaborate in the development and application of innovative computational methods, including machine learning and AI approaches.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and mentor a small team of computational biologists and/or data scientists.
  • Experience in supervising HDR students while fostering a collaborative research environment.
  • Strong communication skills to effectively collaborate with wet-lab researchers, clinicians, and computational scientists.
