About the Role
The Senior Analyst, Business Development plays a key role in developing strategic guidance for commercial business development, supporting the research, and business case development in support of the University’s business development strategy. This role will focus on building and managing processes to identify, manage and enable complex commercial transactions, and alongside this, commence prospect development and monitoring of relevant transactions in the market. The role may also support broader transactional activity in the CD group on an as needed basis.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Leading the implementation of the organisation's business development strategy, overseeing day-to-day activities and providing expert advice.
- Developing and managing a pipeline of business development opportunities, conducting thorough market research and due diligence.
- Leading and executing complex commercial transactions, ensuring alignment with internal policies and partner expectations.
- Fostering strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders, representing the University as a trusted and commercial partner.
Who we are looking for
We seek a highly skilled senior analyst with a proven track record in driving successful business development initiatives. The ideal candidate will possess deep expertise in corporate finance, strategy development, and stakeholder management. Strong leadership, problem-solving, and commercial acumen are essential. Experience in M&A, transaction management, and developing internal processes would be highly valued. The successful candidate will be passionate about contributing to the University's growth and success.
You will also have:
- Tertiary qualifications in finance, legal, accounting, economics, strategy or a relevant discipline alongside a mix of education and relevant corporate development exposure.
- It is desirable for the appointee to have relevant postgraduate / professional accreditation (e.g. CFA, CA/CPA, MBA, MFin, GradAppFin)
- Demonstrated experience in the delivery of results without internal precedent or procedures to inform internal analysis across a range of commercial forms.

This role requires the successful candidate to undergo and maintain an up-to-date Working with Children Check. This is essential to guarantee a secure environment for all individuals at the University. In the case the selected candidate doesn't have a valid Working with Children Check, they will be able to apply for the WWCC as part of the initial onboarding procedures.
This position requires the incumbent to satisfy a satisfactory police check.

Your new team – Corporate Development Group
The Corporate Development (CD) team's core objective is to advance University strategy by driving institutional growth and strategic commercial initiatives. The team identifies and pursues these opportunities for partnerships and investments through market research, evaluation of potential deals, negotiation of terms, and integrates new assets or partners into the University’s business. Essentially, they work to enhance the University’s value and expand its market presence through strategic growth activities.
The Corporate Development (CD) team is comprised of six sub-portfolios including:
- Corporate Finance and Business Development
- Estate Planning
- Estate Development
- Commercial Management
- Portfolio Management and Capital Investment
- Treasury & Financial Investments
- Sustainability
The team is responsible for ensuring that the University’s property, infrastructure, and financial assets/liabilities enable strategy and provide a meaningful competitive advantage. The CD team’s key activities include strategy, planning and performance of the University’s estate, investment in and development of real property, capital planning and associated investment processes, enterprise portfolio management monitoring and reporting, oversight of financial investment portfolios, treasury and financial risk management, debt, commercial arrangement advisory and execution, and sustainability strategy development, planning, governance and reporting.
