About The Position
The Aviation Safety & Maintenance Coordinator (ASMC) plays a vital role at the RMIT Aviation Academy, leading safety investigations and coordinating aircraft maintenance and airworthiness activities. The ASMC is essential in upholding the Academy’s safety commitments by working closely with the Safety Manager and senior instructional staff to implement safety enhancement initiatives and maintain an effective safety reporting system.
In addition, the ASMC manages the scheduling, monitoring, and coordination of aircraft maintenance in partnership with RMIT's contracted maintenance provider, ensuring that all tasks are completed promptly and adhere to regulatory standards. This position acts as the main point of contact for all maintenance-related issues, facilitating effective communication and problem resolution to support the safe and efficient operation of the Academy’s fleet.
To be successful in this position, you’ll have:
- Demonstrated ability to lead, conduct, and coordinate safety investigations, identifying root causes and contributing factors to incidents.
- Experience in developing safety improvement initiatives based on findings and trends.
- Capability in using data and safety reports to identify patterns for trend analysis and continuous improvement.
- High attention to detail, especially in maintaining accurate records for safety investigations and aircraft maintenance.
- Proven ability to ensure compliance with internal safety management systems and regulatory safety standards through thorough documentation and reporting.
- Excellent communication skills to collaborate with various stakeholders, including flight instructional staff, maintenance providers, and students.
- Ability to deliver clear, concise safety briefings and training sessions to reinforce safety protocols and promote a strong safety culture within the Academy.
- Relevant qualifications in aviation safety, maintenance management, or a related field.
- Practical experience in overseeing aircraft maintenance programs, coordinating with contracted maintenance providers, and ensuring regulatory compliance.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a team environment, collaborating with safety managers, instructional staff, and maintenance providers to implement safety improvements and address maintenance concerns.
- Experience in acting as a liaison between different departments, ensuring timely and effective resolution of safety and maintenance issues.
- Demonstrated ability to contribute effectively as a constructive and proactive member of a team.
- Demonstrated skills in the use of relevant information and communication technologies, preferably experience using a Learning Management System such as CANVAS and extensive use of Microsoft Office 365 suite of products.
