About You
The position of Minor Works Coordinator is responsible for the delivery of assigned minor works projects under the direction of management and under the supervision of the Senior Manager Capital Works.
The role will be capable of handling multiple minor projects at the same time and have a good understanding of various project management practices. This role will be responsible for investigating project user requirements, estimating project costing, monitoring the progress of projects and providing technical expertise with the ability to resolve any issues or discrepancies.
This role will liaise with a variety of internal stakeholders across RMIT University and the engagement of external project teams as required such as architects, engineers, quantity surveyors, building surveyors and building contractors.
The Minor Works Coordinator will work within the Capital Works Team and support Property Services by applying best practice at all times and ensuring efficient and prompt delivery of service is achieved. This role will provide high level essential administrative tasks and maintain a high degree of internal and external customer service.
The Minor Works Coordinator is to manage project risks and ensure all minor works meet financial, performance quality, safety and environmental objectives.
This position will require a high level of communication, liaison, negotiation and organisational skills together with a strong commercial acumen.
To be successful in this position, you will have:
- Knowledge and experience in managing and delivering a number of minor works/projects at the same time, meeting deadlines, quality standards and cost parameters, within a large complex organisation.
- Demonstrated ability to inform, engage and coordinate with internal / external stakeholders such as consultants, stakeholders and contractors in a high volume work environment.
- Good standard of verbal and written skills, negotiation and interacting skills with the ability to adapt styles of communication to suit all levels.
- Demonstrated experience in providing regular updates on project progressions and outcomes.
- Technical knowledge of all construction / professional disciplines conversant with the Victorian Building Regulations, Work cover, Occupational Health and Safety and other relevant standards.
- Ability to manage the performance of contracts, programs and projects and effectively deliver results on time, and within budget for more than one project at a time.
- Ability to understand and translate User requirements into sound technical specifications.

About the Portfolio
Property Services is located in the Operations Portfolio which is the services nucleus of RMIT and the focus for the development of the finance, people development, infrastructure and systems that provide administrative capacity to the University.
PSG has approximately 115 staff and has the responsibility to operate, maintain and enhance the buildings owned and leased by RMIT University, oversee construction projects and ensure the provision of physical facilities services.
The Group has an operating budget in excess of $70M and prospective capital projects of over $50M per annum for the next few years. RMIT's built environment involves approximately 109 buildings in Melbourne spread across all of RMIT's campuses and sites.
