About The Position
The Technical Officer will report to the Technical Coordinator and will be responsible for providing technical support within the STEM Technical Stores and in providing service and advice to STEM staff and students on obtaining or procuring consumables.
The role will also be responsible for maintaining the operations of the store, maintaining consumable stock levels, supporting staff and students in purchasing, and ensuring the maintenance of appropriate hazardous handling activities, while also providing technical support to staff and students.
Under the guidance of the Technical Coordinator, the incumbent will be expected to ensure timely maintenance of the workspaces and support the adoption and implementation of OHS standards, ensuring the delivery of client-centric, professional service.
To be successful in this position, you’ll have:
- Demonstrated knowledge/experience in a scientific (chemical, biological) or technical store or similar area;
- Demonstrated knowledge of operations related to inventory or warehousing including chemical storage, practices and techniques. Experience with inventory software is an advantage.
- Proven track record of building strong relationships with a range of stakeholders, including understanding and embracing a client-focused framework.
- Demonstrated understanding of current OH&S legislation with knowledge of other field or industry regulations or standards related to the field within the scope of the service area.
- Effective communication, and interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively in cross-functional teams and with a diverse range of people from various backgrounds.
Please Note: Appointment to this position is subject to passing a Working with Children, Medical Assessment and National Police Check.
