Why Your Role Matters
The Research Officer is an Identified role, as Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander. The position will provide technical and research assistance and advice to senior research staff in activities associated with various research projects, including the contribution and application of knowledge in the field of health equity and Aboriginal health to a range of projects conducted within the International Centre for Future Health Systems.
The role reports to the Associate Professor and has no direct reports.
Specific accountabilities for this role include:
- Provide expert research support on health equity and Aboriginal health projects.
- Assist in project design, implementation, and data management for research integrity.
- Prepare technical reports, manuscripts, and grant applications.
- Conduct quantitative/qualitative data analyses and complex research tasks.
- Liaise with stakeholders, including Aboriginal communities and health organizations.
- Coordinate day-to-day research activities and monitor project timelines.

About you
The ideal candidate will have:
- A university degree in Public Health or related discipline, or an equivalent level of knowledge gained through a combination of education, training or experience.
- Demonstrated experience in stakeholder engagement, ideally with organisations with alignment to the research program (i.e. peak Aboriginal and Torres Strait representative bodies, Aboriginal Medical Services/Aboriginal Controlled Health Organisations etc).
- Experience in public health for Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander health and/or health equity.
- Expertise in Aboriginal research ethics, methods, research design.
- Knowledge of research protocols, research design and planning as involved in developing research projects and reporting against milestones.
- Experience working with a range of computer systems and applications, including Microsoft 365 environment, reference management software, qualitative research analysis software such as Nvivo.
