Overview:
- 1x full time, fixed term (until 26 March 2026) position available
- Salary Academic Level A + 17% Superannuation
- Based at the City campus, but may be required to work and/or be based at other campuses of the University
About You
As the Research Assistant, you will undertake research activities in line with the University’s research strategy. It is expected that the Research Assistant will work with an increasing degree of autonomy as skills and experience develop.
You will work as part of a Defence-funded multi-disciplinary and multi-university team, in collaboration with our industry partners, Phasor Innovation, on the topic of magnetic navigation with quantum diamond sensors. You will be expected to develop and solve algorithms associated with map matching and Kalman filtering, as well as system noise modelling. You will likely have a background that includes strong theoretical/modelling expertise from a background of either Physics, Geospatial Science, Engineering, Mathematics or Computer Science.
To be successful in this position, you’ll have:
- Demonstrated experience in computational modelling relevant to the project.
- Evidence of research output including publications, conference contributions and/or technical reports in the field.
- Ability to work autonomously whilst displaying a strong commitment to work in a team environment, including the demonstrated ability to confidently and effectively work with colleagues, project team leaders, and industry partners.
- Demonstrated ability to meet deadlines and effectively manage varying workloads and respond to changing priorities as required.
- Demonstrated high level of communication skills.
Mandatory: PhD in a relevant discipline, or commensurate experience. Due to sensitive nature of the research, the suitable applicant must be an Australian citizen.
