Salary: UOM 5 – $83,159 – $95,518 p.a. plus 17% super (pro rata for part time)
Assist in the day-to-day management of FEIT’s teaching and learning spaces, providing support to users and facilitating teaching and learning activities.

About the Role
The Student Guide plays a vital role in the daily management of the Faculty of Engineering and Information Technology's multipurpose teaching, learning, and student spaces, providing essential support to users during teaching and learning activities. In this role, students will have the opportunity to develop their work readiness skills while gaining insights into the backend processes involved in managing these dynamic spaces.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Collaborate with the student engagement team to ensure teaching and learning spaces are accessible and effectively operated for users.
- Maintain spaces and equipment to optimise the use of teaching and learning facilities.
- Assist students and users with bookings and usage of spaces and facilities to enhance teaching and learning activities.
- Support budget management, procurement, and risk assessments for the spaces, ensuring compliance with OHS requirements under the guidance of the Student Engagement Lead.
Who we are looking for
You will possess strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills, enabling you to work effectively both independently and as part of a team. With a customer service mindset and experience in maintaining high-quality services, you will demonstrate a commitment to process improvement by questioning the status quo and proposing innovative ideas, all while upholding the highest standards of scientific and ethical integrity.
You will also have:
- A relevant degree and/or trade, or an equivalent combination of relevant experience and educational training.
- Current enrolment as a coursework student at the University of Melbourne.
- Desirable experience in a customer service industry, as well as exposure to a scientific or medical laboratory environment, and preferably in a tertiary education setting.

This role requires the successful candidate to undergo and maintain an up-to-date Working with Children Check. This is essential to guarantee a secure environment for all individuals at the University. In the case the selected candidate doesn't have a valid Working with Children Check, they will be able to apply for the WWCC as part of the initial onboarding procedures.
