School of Engineering, Design and Built Environment at Western Sydney University is a dynamic and multidisciplinary institution dedicated to providing top-tier academic programs and pioneering research. Operating across Penrith, Parramatta South, and Parramatta City campuses, our school offers a diverse range of undergraduate and postgraduate programs, including research opportunities that blend advanced academic knowledge with practical training. About the role
We are seeking a Lecturer in Mechanical Engineering/Advanced Manufacturing who will excel in both research and teaching across a broad spectrum of Mechanical Engineering disciplines. These include advanced manufacturing, Industry 4.0, sustainable manufacturing, manufacturing systems, mechanical design, computer-aided engineering, aerospace engineering, and advanced engineering materials such as composites and nanocomposites. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of impactful research, successful grant applications, and excellence in teaching and learning at the higher education level. Responsibilities include curriculum design, teaching at undergraduate and postgraduate levels, and supervising research students. The successful applicant will collaborate with colleagues and external partners, fostering links with industry, government, and the community. This role involves developing and delivering innovative interdisciplinary academic programs, leading student projects for global competitions, and forming strategic interdisciplinary teams to address grand challenges. The ability to identify and secure funding opportunities is essential to sustain and bring projects to success.
About You
The successful candidate will have the ability to prepare and deliver lectures, tutorials, practical classes, and workshops in a blended learning mode, both independently and as part of a team. They will serve as subject coordinator, publish scholarly research, develop innovative academic programs, and lead professional short courses. They will actively engage in impactful research, produce high-quality outputs, secure sustainable funding, and collaborate on high-impact projects. Additionally, they will attract, supervise, and mentor postgraduate research students, ensuring timely completion and publication of their research. The candidate will maintain effective communication, participate in administrative duties, pursue professional development, and contribute to governance and professional bodies.

Remuneration Package: Academic Level B $139,458 to $164,559 p.a. (comprising Salary of $117,844 to $139,151 p.a., plus Superannuation and Leave Loading)
