Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement the University’s procedures and policies related to secure research engagement and critical technologies.
  • Work with stakeholders across the University’s Research and Industry Engagement Portfolio (RIE), Academic Schools, and professional portfolios to ensure safe and secure research and industry engagement.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable laws, regulations and guidelines relating to national security, defence and international obligations.
  • Develop, implement and provide advice on procedures for the University’s foreign interaction policy framework.
  • Maintain understanding of the international risk environment and enable timely action to address weaknesses and opportunities.
  • Establish credibility and influence to enhance the capability of research leadership and staff to manage risks and ensure compliance.
  • Engage with foreign interactions expertise across the university and the higher education sector.

Requirements
  • A degree with substantial extension of theories and principles, or a range of management experience, or postgraduate qualifications with extensive relevant experience.
  • Demonstrated understanding of national legislation, policy and frameworks relevant to university research.
  • Strong understanding of the research process, research collaboration, and technology in critical technology areas.
  • Willingness to acquire relevant security clearances and licenses.
