Responsibilities
  • Contribute to the creation and rollout of all safety related programs including, hazard identification, Behavior Base Safety (BBS), Safety Culture Change, Global Safety Day etc.
  • Provide specialist assistance, consultation and advice to managers and employees in relation to Safety Management System and Zero Accident approach at workplace.
  • Identify gaps and opportunities for improvement of the RMIT Vietnam safety culture and plan out actions/programs for short- and long-term strategy.
  • Develop metrics and benchmarks to measure the safety and health programs and uses those measures to identify, propose and implement improvements, and corrective action plans.
  • Provide support in monitoring, documenting, and reporting compliance and document control procedures
  • Monitor potential risks and safety issues for the Campus by collaborating with stakeholders, monitoring dashboards/ticketing systems to identify risks/trends/best practices to ensure proactive health and safety solutions.
  • Develop an ongoing engagement program to raise awareness of health and safety in workplace as well as in employees’ daily life.
  • Be the primary scene commander during emergency management, along with security team to ensure the situation is handled according to University emergency plans.
  • Regularly review the emergency response plan by completing a robust risk assessment and deliver a plan that allocates accountabilities, resources, and equipment to ensure all site emergencies are effectively managed and risks are minimized.
  • In collaboration with the site management, monitor, record safety functionality and location of emergency stations, and other safety-related items.
  • Develop and facilitate ongoing briefings and trainings for all emergency management responders.
  • Ensure that appropriate teams/departments conduct emergency drills on an appropriate basis. Create and review drill assessments to identify areas and deploy actions to improve efficiency and effectiveness of the emergency plan(s).
  • Other tasks: Undertake any other duties as required by the Senior Manager, People Safety & Well Being.

Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in health & Safety, or related fields with minimum 07-year experience in Health & Safety related jobs, in which 02 years in management role.
  • Understanding of legal requirements and standards on Health & Safety for Vietnam.
  • Demonstrated ability to diagnose, analyse, conceptualise, and provide creative solutions to complex health and safety issues.
  • Proven ability to build and maintain partnerships and relationships in a collaborative manner with key internal clients to support the University’s business objectives.
  • Proven capability to consult, interact and collaborate effectively with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Proven ability/experience to influence others for culture change in OHS.
  • Demonstrated project management skills including planning, implementation, and evaluation.
  • Demonstrated experience in facilitating the transference of OHS knowledge into site management.
  • Well-developed planning and time management skills in meeting deadlines and managing conflicting demands.
  • Proven ability to develop clear and concise written communications including proposal, audit reports, procedures & policies.
  • English Proficiency: IELTS General with a score of at least 6.5 (or equivalent).
