Salary Package: $76,654 (HEW4), pro-rata, plus 17% superannuation
Appointment Type: Part-time (0.4FTE), 3-year fixed term

About the Opportunity
Research assistant role within the Ophthalmology and Vision Science group at Macquarie University. We are actively engaged in clinical and basic science research on various causes of vision loss and neurodegenerative diseases. This part-time position will provide an opportunity for a motivated and detail-oriented research assistant to work on NHMRC and MRFF funded multicentre clinical trials investigating the utility of genetic markers for glaucoma to stratify risk of disease progression and treatment pathways in early glaucoma, with Prof Stuart Graham and Dr Angela Schulz. May also assist in collation of data from other clinical trials and research projects within our department.
Your Key Responsibilities Will Include:
- Assist in the preparation of human research ethics and clinical governance applications.
- Assist with recruitment, screening, and appointment scheduling of study participants.
- Perform data collection from participant medical records and assist with retinal imaging.
- Maintain research databases (Access and RedCap), ensuring accuracy and completeness of data.
- Follow all ethical and safety protocols, ensuring compliance with research regulations.
About You

- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field (e.g., Medical Science, BSc or similar).
- Previous experience in a clinical research setting, (previous ophthalmology research is highly desirable).
- Previous experience in preparing HREC and Clinical Governance applications.
- Strong attention to detail, with excellent organizational and time management skills.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to interact with study participants and work collaboratively in a team environment.
- Proficiency in data management software and basic statistical tools is preferred.
