About This Opportunity
The TACKLE Concussion Trial is a groundbreaking multi-institutional study aimed at advancing our understanding and management of concussion in adolescent athletes. Conducted in partnership with World Rugby, Rugby Australia, Queensland schools, Qscan, and Trajan Scientific and Medical, the project coordinator will ensure the study’s success through meticulous project management, stakeholder engagement, and adherence to ethical standards.
We are seeking a motivated and organised Coordinator, Research Trials to provide clinical research coordination and implementation. Reporting to Associate Professor Fatima Nasrallah, this role involves assisting with research activities such as administrative and operational support, data collection coordination, database support, and project progress reporting. This will be achieved through close collaboration with clinical and research teams and key stakeholders, and adherence to human ethics requirements and governance processes.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop, prepare, coordinate, and maintain all regulatory submissions for the research trial, including national ethics regulations and research governance requirements.
- Liaise with research volunteers to facilitate study participation.
- Establish collaborations with key stakeholders, participate in regular meetings, and provide monthly progress reports to the Chief Investigator and stakeholders.
- Under the Chief Investigator’s direction, set up and monitor ethics, database management, and staff coordination for data collection.
- Management of assistants for conducting study processes including their recruitment and advertising.
- Ensure quality control and proper transfer/storage of MRI data.
- Develop standard operating procedures (SOPs) for the trial, coordinate blood sample collection, processing, and storage, and delegate tasks among the research team.
- Promote and implement participant recruitment and engagement activities, maintain participant records, coordinate project assessments, and report issues to the Chief Investigator.
- Provide data for reporting on research outcomes and monitor compliance and ethical considerations.

About You
- Completion of an undergraduate degree with subsequent relevant experience; or an equivalent combination of relevant experience and/or education/training.
- Well-developed skills in project and team operations management, including understanding research budgets and liaising with stakeholders for research ethics and legal governance.
- Experience in developing research practices, standard operating procedures, and protocols with broad direction from Chief Investigators.
- Previous experience in research data capture and project management in a research and/or clinical setting.
- Understanding of higher education research funding, operations, and OH&S policies and regulations.
- Well-developed written communication and organisational skills, with the ability to prioritise workload, exercise initiative, and work in a dynamic environment with competing priorities.
- Flexibility and proficiency in using various computer and web applications to create high-standard communication and promotional materials.
- Maintain high standards of record keeping, communication, and consultative skills to work effectively with participants, parents, school staff, multidisciplinary team members, and health professionals to meet research goals within ethical standards.
- Demonstrated leadership and teamwork in a multidisciplinary setting, effectively communicating with all staff levels and stakeholders, including research participants and caregivers.
