About This Opportunity
Join our team as a Research Assistant at Genetic Research Services! We're seeking a dedicated individual to contribute to our mission of providing high-quality genetic services. You'll work alongside a team of experts to perform various laboratory tasks, including sample preparation, data analysis, and equipment maintenance. Your skills will be essential in supporting UQ's research initiatives and ensuring the success of our genetic analysis services.
Key Responsibilities:
- Efficiently handle sample receipt, preparation, and storage, ensuring accurate tracking and preservation.
- Proficiently perform PCR setup, gel electrophoresis, and data analysis using specialized software.
- Actively contribute to the maintenance, calibration, and upkeep of laboratory equipment, ensuring optimal performance and compliance with standards.
- Accurately enter and manipulate data using Excel, and effectively manage data analysis files for efficient access and retrieval.
- Liaise with UQ staff and clients to provide technical support and assistance, contributing to a positive and collaborative research environment.

About You
To be successful as a Research Assistant for Genetic Research here at UQ, you'll need a strong foundation in science or a related field, along with practical experience in molecular biology techniques. You'll also need excellent organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills. Your ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and maintain a high level of accuracy will be essential in this role.
Additionally, experience in genetically modified mice genotyping, DNA Sanger sequencing, and the use of liquid handling robots/technology would be highly advantageous.
