The Opportunity
Are you passionate about exploring the future of mobile technologies and their impact on society and the environment? The Institute for Culture and Society are seeking a Postdoctoral Associate Research Fellow to work on an ARC Centre of Excellence in Automated Decision-Making and Society (CoE in ADM+S) signature project titled ‘After the Smartphone: Social, Ecological, and Governance Implications of Emerging Mobile Technologies and their Worlds’. You will work closely with Professor Gerard Goggin to contribute to this and other projects that develop greater understanding of the social, cultural and institutional dynamics of emerging mobile technologies across Southeast Asia.
Alongside participating in cutting-edge comparative research and publication, the Postdoctoral Associate Research Fellow will draw upon their media and cultural research, political economy, policy research, linguistic, cultural ethnographic, and other expertise to understand the shaping of emerging mobile technologies, cultures, and policy systems in their interplay among specific local, national, transnational, regional, and global settings. You will collaborate actively with researchers at the ICS and its national and international networks (including those via the WSU node of the CoE in ADM+S). Additionally, you will have administrative responsibilities including coordinating project planning, data management, and financial management. You will also have the opportunity to develop research-related teaching materials and occasionally contribute to teaching. Furthermore, you will assist in co-supervising and mentoring undergraduate and postgraduate students, providing valuable advice within your field of expertise.
This is a full-time, fixed-term position for 5 years based at Parramatta South Campus, although travel to other campuses of the University may be required. Please review the position description for further information.
