We work closely with industry partners and government bodies to translate discoveries into real-word impact. This role will specifically be working within the School of Health and Social Development.
About the role:
As an integral member of the Occupational Therapy teaching and research team, the role of the Lecturer, Occupational Therapy Clinical Educator, Education-focused Academic is to support students to integrate theory and practice and to develop their identity as an emerging occupational therapist within a professional practice context. This position is suited to a person with an emerging record and passion for learning and teaching, a keen interest in contributing to community engagement for teaching and employability.
As a Lecturer, Occupational Therapy, Education-focused, you will:
- Maintain deep discipline knowledge which is applied to inform unit design
- Act as clinical educator of students with direct responsibility for establishment of learning goals and the assessment of learning outcomes
- Liaise with, and provide oversight and support for students, on site supervisors, particularly where there are issues with placement, or a critical incident occurs
- Identify new placement opportunities which meet the learning needs of Deakin occupational therapy students
- Adopt new innovation in curriculum design at the unit level including integrating industry, clinical and/or research practice to teaching
To be successful, you’ll have:
- Demonstrated passion for teaching and learning.
- Ability to deliver effective teaching practices to improve student success and engagement.
- PhD or Masters in a relevant discipline and/or other relevant qualifications and experience
- At least five years’ experience in occupational therapy practice including being a clinical educator
- Current registration with Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA)
