Facilitate and coordinate research opportunities for medical students in the Doctor of Medicine (MD) program at Western Health, with a focus on the Research Scholar and Clinician Scholar streams.

About the Role
In this key role based at Western Health, you will play an instrumental part in enriching the research experience for medical students in the prestigious MD course.
As the MD Research Coordinator, you will leverage your networks and expertise to match students with suitable research projects aligning with their interests.
This involves liaising with potential supervisors, promoting research initiatives, and facilitating connections between students and Western Health's research community.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Coordinating and matching students with appropriate research projects and supervisors.
- Liaising between research areas, students, and staff to promote projects and build research capacity.
- Providing direct teaching and guidance on research methodologies and practices.
- Fostering relationships and providing a customer-service approach to engage students and supervisors.
Who We Are Looking For
You will be an accomplished academic passionate about medical education and research. With excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to manage multiple responsibilities, you thrive in a collaborative, nurturing team environment.
You will also have:
- A medical qualification recognised in Victoria, Australia.
- Specialist registration in a relevant medical discipline.
- Previous teaching experience within the university/hospital sector.
- Demonstrated expertise in research (clinical or basic) and engagement at a national or international level.
- An established working relationship with Western Health.
For Level C, additional requirements include:
- A higher degree in medical education or substantial progress towards achieving this goal.
- Substantial experience in curriculum development for a medical course.
- A demonstrated record of scholarly activity at a national or international level.
- National or international standing within a relevant clinical discipline.

This role requires that the successful candidate must undergo and maintain an up-to-date Working with Children Check. This is essential to guarantee a secure environment for all individuals at the University. In the case the selected candidate doesn't have a valid Working with Children Check, they will be able to apply for the WWCC as part of the initial onboarding procedures.
