Why this role matters
The role of the Optical Dispenser/Receptionist within the UNSW Optometry Clinic is pivotal to the flow and efficiency of this busy clinic in both the reception and dispensing areas. The role provides front line patient support and retail dispensing while supporting the daily requirements of professional staff and students within this extremely busy teaching clinic. The position requires the ability to manage many competing priorities across a varied workload with accountability to deliver exceptional patient care. In addition to providing a spectacle dispensing service, Optical Dispensers are responsible for supervising students in the dispensing component of the School of Optometry and Vision Science, Master of Optometry Program.
Key skills required:
- Previous experience as a receptionist working within an optometric or any health or medical practice.
- Certificate IV in Optical Dispensing or equivalent.
- Sound knowledge of practice and dispensing operating procedures.
- Excellent retail optical product knowledge.
- Proven sales record.
- Experience in dispensing education.
- Attention to detail and excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Demonstrated ability to manage competing priorities and work as a team member.
- Commitment to excellence in patient care and customer service in a busy professional environment.
