About Us
Victoria University has a bold and ambitious new vision, and a seven-year strategic plan characterised by five strategic drivers. VU has innovated a new pedagogic and curriculum approach: the VU Block Model. This, along with the VU First Year College, has been among the most significant learning and teaching developments in the Australian tertiary education sector over the past decade.
VU TAFE is renowned for digital innovation in its delivery, evident through the Sunshine Skills Hub and is a highly valued industry collaborator.
Victoria University is one of the top ten sports science universities in the world with more recent, yet equally profound, achievements in health sciences, immunology, green engineering, the circular economy, and Indigenous history.
About the Role
Working within a collaborative leadership team and reporting to the Director, Centre of VU Transitions, this key role is committed to providing excellence and driven by a passion for innovation.
As the General Manager English, you will play a pivotal role in providing outstanding commercial, academic, operational, and strategic leadership for the centre. Additionally, you will oversee the operational management of VU English and ensure the quality of all VU English products and services delivered both onshore and offshore. Reporting directly to the Director, Centre of VU Transitions, you will be a key contributor to enhancing the well-being and quality of life for individuals, communities, and internal and external stakeholders. The successful candidate will lead a team dedicated to developing and implementing programs, resources, and support services that empower students to navigate the challenges and opportunities of their academic transitions.
About You
VU’s collaborative working environment will help you thrive and achieve the best outcomes for yourself, the solutions you lead, and the diverse teams you inspire.
You are a highly experienced and innovative senior leader, with significant experience in managing and delivering English Language/ELICOS programs, including successful planning and implementation of onshore and offshore business opportunities that yield high-quality, sustainable outcomes.
Your proven track record in effectively engaging with onshore and offshore stakeholders and shaping education and training products to meet changing needs will be crucial to your success.
You have demonstrated experience in nurturing, developing, and coaching staff to adopt excellence, a strong student/customer-centric approach, and supporting cross-team collaborations to meet the business plan and strategies.
You have strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work with diverse audiences in a highly collegiate and efficient manner. With an eye for detail, you will be organised and comfortable working across multiple projects and departments concurrently. Adaptability, resilience, intelligence, humour and strategic thinking will favourably position you for success in this role.
This is a full-time, 5-year fixed-term position at a HEP 10 classification level with a salary of $132,932 per annum plus 17% employer superannuation, working 36.75 hours per week.
