About You
The Lecturer, Digital Communication is expected to contribute to the teaching and research efforts of the School of Media and Communication in the field of Digital Communication, which includes digital content creation, managing digital challenges, as well as digital audiences and analytics.
More broadly, the Lecturer, Digital Communication is responsible for carrying out teaching activities related to Digital Communication within undergraduate and postgraduate coursework programs and for maintaining and advancing their scholarly, research and/or professional capabilities related to Digital Communication. The Lecturer, Digital Communication is also expected to actively promote the undergraduate and postgraduate programs by establishing and maintaining memberships, links and partnerships with academic, industry and professional communities.
The Lecturer, Digital Communication is expected to work collaboratively and collegially with all RMIT staff, and update colleagues and students on developments in their related research specialisation. The Lecturer, Digital Communication will be responsible for coordination of courses offered onshore and offshore; and will be required to teach courses in intensive mode at the Singapore Institute of Management (SIM); where RMIT’s Bachelor of Professional Communication is also offered.
To be successful in this position, you’ll have as a minimum:
- Demonstrated ability to prepare and deliver Digital Communication courses at undergraduate and postgraduate levels, including semester-long and intensive delivery, and the ability to produce high quality curriculum or program materials.
- Ability to undertake course coordination role.
- Demonstrated capacity to work effectively with and to negotiate sensitively with students, especially on issues related to effective learning.
- Emerging track record and recognition for quality research outputs in Communication will contribute to existing Discipline and School research strengths evidenced by publications and development of new research initiatives.
- Ability to build effective networks with colleagues and generate alternative funding projects through effective liaison with industry and government.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills appropriate for interacting with higher degree by research candidates, staff and industry, together with a strong commitment to teamwork and multidisciplinary collaboration.
