Salary
  • $100,318 to $107,299 per annum + 17% superannuation

Responsibilities
  • Working on sustainable concrete projects to develop and optimise novel construction material mix designs.
  • Testing performance and durability of new materials compared to traditional concretes made from Portland cement.
  • Collaborating closely with the project leader and team to transfer knowledge to industry partners.
  • Seeking feedback from industry partners for continuous improvement of products.
  • Contributing to the writing of scientific papers and reports for international journals.
  • Participating in conferences and workshops.
  • Engaging actively with industry partners.

Requirements
  • A PhD (or soon to be awarded) in construction materials, alkali-activated materials or related areas.
  • Demonstrated ability to conduct independent research with limited supervision.
  • Demonstrated track record of publications and conference presentations relative to opportunity.
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a team and collaborate across disciplines.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate with a diverse range of stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated ability and publications showing successful experimental research on construction materials testing and characterisation.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability in collaborations with industry to meet project milestones (desirable, not mandatory).
  • Demonstrated ability and publications in making successful mix designs for alkali-activated materials and geopolymers (desirable, not mandatory).
  • Demonstrated ability and publications showing research on the durability of construction materials (desirable, not mandatory).
  • Understanding of and commitment to UNSW’s aims, objectives and values in action.
