About the Role
The Team Leader, Admissions, plays a key role in managing student admissions, ensuring quality applicants are converted into enrolments to meet University load targets. The role supervises Admissions Officers, supports staff development, and collaborates with admissions teams to facilitate a fair and timely selection process. Additionally, the Team Leader handles complex admissions issues and contributes to fostering a culture of service excellence and continuous improvement.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Effectively motivate, coach and manage staff to achieve goals. Provide clear performance expectations, regular feedback, and document performance outcomes, ensuring poor performance is addressed and high performance is nurtured and rewarded.
- Collaborate with the Admissions Manager to ensure effective relationship management of internal and external clients and stakeholders, applicants and University of Melbourne representatives (agents).
- Deliver application selection processes efficiently to maximise the conversion of high-quality applicants to admitted students and ensure applications from priority cohorts are identified early.
- Collaborate with the Admissions Manager to contribute to the team’s achievement of agreed service levels, standards and reporting requirements using analytics and performance tracking whilst optimising the provision of accurate, timely and enabling information to stakeholders. This includes meeting KPIs for application processing.
Who we are looking for
The ideal candidate excels in multitasking, possesses strong organisational skills, and demonstrates effective verbal and written communication. They are adaptable and skilled in problem-solving, ensuring tasks are managed efficiently in dynamic environments.
You will also have:
- A tertiary qualifications in a relevant discipline or an equivalent combination of relevant experience and education/training.
- Demonstrated leadership and experience in aligning organisational strategies and balancing resourcing demands, preferably within a complex environment.
- Previous experience with admissions within a tertiary education context.
- Demonstrated commitment and experience in providing high-service delivery to students and Divisions alike.

This role requires the successful candidate to undergo and maintain an up-to-date Working with Children Check. This is essential to guarantee a secure environment for all individuals at the University. In the case the selected candidate doesn't have a valid Working with Children Check, they will be able to apply for the WWCC as part of the initial onboarding procedures.
