The Innovation Product Manager will lead the development and implementation of innovative products and services within UNSW IT. This role requires a visionary leader who can identify market opportunities, define product vision, and drive the product lifecycle from concept to launch. The Innovation Product Manager will work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure products meet customer needs and align with the university's strategic goals.
The role of an Innovation Product Manager within the UNSW IT Innovation Enablement Program is to lead the development and implementation of innovative products and services. This visionary leader identifies market opportunities, defines product vision, and drives the product lifecycle from concept to launch. They work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure products meet customer needs and align with the university's strategic goals. Specific accountabilities include defining and communicating product vision and strategy to stakeholders, and leading teams in the development of new products and services.
This role is essential in fostering a culture of innovation and ensuring that the products and services developed are not only cutting-edge but also strategically aligned with the goals and values of UNSW. The Innovation Product Manager is a key player in translating innovative ideas into tangible outcomes that can significantly support UNSW's strategy and promote on-platform innovation.
Accountabilities:
- Collaborate with stakeholders to gather and prioritise product requirements, ensuring alignment with business goals.
- Define, agree and communicate the product vision, strategy to stakeholders ensuring alignment and clarity.
- Lead and inspire cross-functional teams in the creation and development of new innovative products and services.
- Conduct comprehensive market research to identify and uncover opportunities for innovation products and approaches.
- Oversee the entire product development lifecycle, ensuring initiative and projects are delivered on time and meet quality standards.
- Cultivate a culture of innovation and continuous improvement within the product team. Align with and actively demonstrate the UNSW Values in Action: Our Behaviours and the UNSW Code of Conduct.
- Act as a catalyst for change, promoting and encouraging a mindset shift towards embracing innovation and experimentation.
- Monitor and analyse product performance metrics, using data-driven insights to inform decision-making and product improvements.
- Ensure hazards and risks psychosocial and physical are identified and controlled for tasks, projects, and activities that pose a health and safety risk within your area of responsibility.
Who you are:
- A strategic thinker with the ability to develop and communicate a clear product vision and strategy.
- Experienced in product management and development lifecycle, with a focus on innovation and new product development, with attention to timely delivery and quality outcomes.
- Strong leadership and team management skills with experience in managing cross-functional, virtual teams.
- Proficient in monitoring and analysing product performance metrics using data analysis techniques.
- Innovative and creative with the ability to foster a culture of innovation and continuous improvement.
- Experience with agile development methodologies and customer-centric design principles. An understanding of and commitment to UNSW’s aims, objectives and values in action, together with relevant policies and guidelines.
- Knowledge of health & safety (psychosocial and physical) responsibilities and commitment to attending relevant health and safety training.
