About This Opportunity
As a Higher Degree by Research (HDR) Liaison Officer, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the experience of HDR candidates at the University. In this dynamic and rewarding position, you will provide expert advice and support to HDR candidates, fostering their progression and development. Working closely with colleagues, Advisors, and Directors of HDR (DHDRs), you will ensure candidates receive tailored guidance to navigate their academic journey and achieve research success.
You will also have the opportunity to contribute to the smooth administration of admissions, scholarships, and orientation, all while enhancing engagement and connectedness within the HDR cohort. This role will allow you to make a meaningful impact on the research community and the academic careers of future leaders. Key Responsibilities
- Serve as a primary point of contact for HDR candidates, providing proactive support and guidance on candidature progression and development.
- Collaborate with Directors of HDR (DHDRs) to monitor candidate progress, identify changing needs, and implement appropriate support measures.
- Facilitate the administration of HDR admissions, scholarship nominations, and orientation activities for new candidates.
- Work with the HDR Liaison Team Leader to promote and coordinate engagement and development opportunities for HDR candidates, enhancing their research training and cohort experience.

About You
Completion of an undergraduate degree in a relevant field, along with at least 2 years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Prior experience in an administrative role.
- Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills, with the ability to effectively engage with a diverse range of stakeholders.
- Proven ability to work collaboratively within a team environment, building productive relationships with colleagues and external partners.
- Excellent organisational and time management skills, with the capacity to prioritise tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced setting.
- High level of computer literacy, with demonstrated ability to quickly adapt to new technologies and systems.
The successful candidate may be required to complete a number of pre-employment checks, including right to work in Australia and a criminal check.
