About the Role
The Department of Chemical Engineering is seeking an educator to fulfil a temporary academic role, primarily focused on education and teaching, with additional contributions to leadership, service, and research. The key responsibility will be helping to deliver a new Interdisciplinary Design for Engineers subject in 2025, working with a team to teach Master of Engineering students through interactive, project-based classes, with a focus on Chemical Engineering. You will also provide support with departmental priorities, including website upgrades, delivery of laboratory demonstrations and tutorials, while having an opportunity to undertake research.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Deliver independent teaching, including lectures, tutorials, assessments, and student consultations, ensuring timely preparation and high standards, while collaborating on subject design and improvement.
- Contribute to research by supporting teaching improvement projects, applying evidence-based approaches, and assisting with benchmarking and funding efforts.
- Engage in leadership and service by working closely with departmental academic staff, and ensuring compliance with University policies and procedures.
- Mark assessments, provide timely feedback, promote academic integrity, and support the development of pedagogical excellence within the department.
Who we are looking for
You will have a proven ability to prepare and deliver high-quality teaching materials, both in-person and online, with a strong focus on student engagement and development. Your excellent communication skills, combined with your capacity to foster independent learning and critical thinking, allow you to effectively connect with diverse audiences. Additionally, you are adaptable, organised, and skilled in managing teaching plans, timelines, and collaborating with colleagues from various cultural backgrounds.
You will also have:
- Recent, relevant teaching experience at the tertiary level.
- A PhD in chemical engineering or related field or discipline, or be close to completing.
- Excellent computer skills, with proficiency in Microsoft Office, email, and student learning management systems.

This role requires the successful candidate to undergo and maintain an up-to-date Working with Children Check. This is essential to guarantee a secure environment for all individuals at the University.
