CSIRO iPhD Scholarship in Medical Physics
CSIRO Industry PhD (iPhD) program
This position is currently located at the Hawthorn campus, but the incumbent may be required to undertake duties at any of the University's campuses.
Salary: $47,000 per annum (2025 rate) with a $13,000 per annum Project Expense and Development package
About the Scholarship
A PhD student is sought to work on an existing project in medical physics, funded by the CSIRO Industry PhD (iPhD) program with the Australian Radiation Protection and Nuclear Safety Agency (ARPANSA), under the supervisor of Associate Professor Jeremy Brown. The research will be carried out at the Optical Sciences Centre at Swinburne with onsite placements at ARPANSA and CSIRO.
About you
To be successful in the role, you will have:
- Tertiary degree in biomedical engineering or physics (Distinction or Higher Distinction)
- Experience with experimental detector instrumentation or radiation physics
- Experience with computational modelling techniques (python, c++, linux/unix)

Eligibility
To be eligible for the scholarship, applicants must be domestic students as per the Higher Education Support Act 2003 at the time of award. Domestic students include:
- Australian citizens,
- Australian permanent residents,
- A person entitled to stay in Australia, or to enter and stay in Australia, without any limitation as to time
- New Zealand citizens
