About the Role
An exciting opportunity has become available within the Swinburne Health Service for an experienced Registered Nurse (RN) to join the team and contribute to the provision of high-quality clinical care for students.
As the Registered Nurse, you will be a critical member of the clinical team who can practice autonomously and collaboratively within an interdisciplinary healthcare team to deliver evidence-based, patient-centred care to a student population. You will be expected to provide high-level clinical support in emergency and clinical care, establish and run nurse-led clinics, have experience in providing sexual health consultations, be involved in the mentoring of student nurse placements, and participate in a variety of presentations and events supporting health education and health promotion programs.
Working within this team would suit someone who is clinical solutions focused, has a high level of shared accountability, critical thinking and resilience. This role requires flexibility in hours to cover practice working hours - which are 08:00am to 6:00pm.
This position is open only to applicants who have work rights in Australia.
About You
To be suitable for this role you will need to have experience in the below key accountabilities:
- Excellent triage and clinical assessment/treatment skills including emergency first aid/procedures and drug administration.
- Experience in running nurse-led clinics- such as sexual health clinics, immunisation clinics.
- Responsible for the lead on a portfolio within the practice- such as infection prevention and control.
- Assisting with procedures and wound management- including spirometry, ear micro suctioning and iron infusions.
- Highly developed interpersonal and communication skills, that foster therapeutic relationships and promote patient engagement and empowerment.
- Organisational skills, with the ability to work autonomously but also collaboratively within the Swinburne Health Service multi-disciplinary team.
- Understanding of Accreditation Standards and requirements.
- Knowledge and experience using medical software - Best Practice.
- Experience in working with young adults from cultural and linguistic diverse backgrounds.
Qualifications
- Current APHRA registration as a Registered Nurse Div. 1.
- Experience as a Registered Nurse in GP Clinic.
- Accredited Nurse Immunizer.
- Certificate in Sexual and Reproductive Health and Cervical screening provider.
- Ear Wax Removal Certificate- including microsuction.
- Infection Control training.
- Basic First Aid and CPR certificate.
