About the Role

Swinburne University is seeking an Associate Director, Data Governance to play a pivotal role within our Data and Analytics Center of Excellence. This key leadership position is essential for establishing and enforcing robust data governance policies and procedures that will shape the future of data management at our institution.
Key Responsibilities:
- Drive the development and implementation of data standards, ensuring alignment with industry best practices, particularly the Data Management Association (DAMA) framework.
- Architect and develop comprehensive data governance systems and processes to manage our data assets effectively, securely, and consistently across the university.
- Collaborate with various departments to align data governance initiatives with existing Data and Analytics applications, integrating systems for seamless operations.
- Design and implement robust data governance frameworks that meet regulatory and compliance requirements while enhancing overall data quality and integrity.
- Foster a culture of data governance within the university, engaging stakeholders to understand their unique data needs and promoting the adoption of governance systems and processes.

About You
To be suitable for this role you will need to have experience in the below key accountabilities:
- A deep understanding of the technical aspects of DAMA and the ability to navigate the complexities of a large organization.
- Strong stakeholder management skills to build consensus around data governance practices.
- A commitment to promoting the importance of data governance through training and support, ensuring principles are understood and valued across the university.
- Proven ability to lead and mentor a team of data governance professionals, fostering a collaborative and innovative work environment.
- Strong project management skills, with experience in overseeing complex data governance projects from inception to completion.
Qualifications
- Postgraduate qualifications in Data Management, Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
- Professional certifications in data governance, such as Certified Data Management Professional (CDMP) or similar, are highly desirable.
