About the Role
The Business Development Associate (MDHS) supports the Faculty of Medicine, Dentistry and Health Sciences in driving research translation by engaging with internal and external stakeholders, including industry and government. This role involves identifying new opportunities, analysing market trends, pursuing funding, and managing partner relationships to align with the University’s strategic goals. The Associate works closely with research and professional staff to facilitate collaboration and innovation.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Develop and maintain strong relationships across MDHS to support business development plans, fostering innovation and collaboration with academics, researchers, and clinicians.
- Identify and manage customer relationships, pursuing growth opportunities and supporting strategic customer management initiatives.
- Contribute to the scoping, development, and market analysis of sector plans, commercial transactions, and cross-organisational projects aligned with University strategies.
- Support the management of the commercial engagement pipeline, including reporting to MDHS Executive staff and collaborating on philanthropic funding opportunities.
Who we are looking for
You will have excellent relationship-building skills, particularly within a human health, medical or life science field, and the ability to manage complex internal and external stakeholder relationships effectively. You will demonstrate strong written and verbal communication abilities, work collaboratively as part of a dynamic team, and adapt well to changing and ambiguous environments.
You will have:
- A tertiary degree in a relevant Life Science discipline, enabling credible technical and commercial discussions with researchers and potential partners, and deliver compelling value propositions.
- Impeccable organisational skills and attention to detail.
- Demonstrated ability to match research capabilities with industry opportunities, supported by a scientific background and strong science communication experience, driving impactful partnerships.

This role requires the successful candidate to undergo and maintain an up-to-date Working with Children Check. This is essential to guarantee a secure environment for all individuals at the University. In the case the selected candidate doesn't have a valid Working with Children Check, they will be able to apply for the WWCC as part of the initial onboarding procedures.
