JOB DESCRIPTION
Exciting opportunity within the Equality, Inclusion & Belonging Unit, Office of Vice-Chancellor at Victoria University. Join an agile, collaborative and high performing team leading a strategic progressive inclusivity agenda. Partner with Our Watch, the national leader in preventing gender-based violence, to stop violence before it starts.
About Us:
At Victoria University (VU) we have a responsibility, in all that we do – our research, our teaching, on our campuses and in our communities – to improve the health and wellbeing of our local and global communities, and the planet that we share. Join the Equality, Inclusion & Belonging Unit in contributing towards achieving objectives of the Strategic Plan 2022-2028: Start Well, Finish Brilliantly, including creating a thriving place to study and work at the University.
VU is formally cited by the Commonwealth Workplace Gender Equality Agency as an Employer of Choice for Gender Equality. VU is recognised by Australian Workplace Equality Index Pride in Diversity as a gold standard workplace. VU has committed to becoming disability confident through the Australian Disability Network and is undertaking the Welcoming Universities accreditation.
VU has partnered with Our Watch, a national leader in the primary prevention of gender-based violence, to implement and embed an enterprise-wide transformative approach to intersectional gender equity and justice. This strategic alliance is the first of its kind within the higher education and TAFE sectors – internationally.
About the Role:
This role is part of the Educating for Equality team within the Equality, Inclusion, and Belonging Unit. You will collaborate closely with both the team and the Unit to support VU’s strategic and operational agenda.
Reporting to the Manager of Educating for Equality, this role leads the implementation of the annual Activity Work Plan for the Our Watch partnership, contributes to the Educating for Equality Developmental Evaluation, and supports the execution of the annual Equality, Inclusion, and Belonging Operational Plan.
This position is offered on a full-time fixed term (2 years) basis at HEP 8 classification with salary range being $106,346 - $119,760 per annum plus 17% employer superannuation contribution.
Duties:
Some of the duties you are expected to perform are:
- Establish and lead partnership projects across the VU domains, to implement Educating for Equality in Higher Education and Respect & Equality in TAFE.
- Contribute to VU achieving relevant legislative and regulatory requirements and external benchmarking.
- Undertake knowledge translation across the Educating for Equality program of work to create sophisticated and evidence-informed internal and external advice, guidance, communications, reports, technical assets.
About the Person:
VU is seeking an experienced navigator to engage with the complexity of dual sector institution; someone who thrives on leading system change projects that see meaningful impacts and achieve timely outputs, someone who takes a diligent, nuanced and strategic approach, demonstrating sophistication and dynamism. If this role has your interest, we encourage you to apply now.
VU’s collaborative and flexible environment will support you to experience a safe, equitable and inclusive workplace where you are valued, encouraged, and feel like you belong. Where you can lead high-quality projects that deliver impacts within the VU community.
The successful candidate will have:
- Highly developed understanding of, and practice using the current knowledge in what works to shift the social norms, structures and beliefs that are barriers to achieving progressive inclusivity within a higher education institution.
- Proven track record leading all phases of a major project, including the design, implementation, communication, technical and asset development and evaluation. Especially projects involving major change which impact on other areas of the business operations.
- High level of integrity, commitment, and judgement, particularly with the ability to advise leaders on complex matters with clarity, sensitivity and confidentiality.
- Capacity to deliver quality work on time, within scope, which is both evidence-based and evidence-building.
What we Offer:
VU strives to create a family friendly, diverse and inclusive workplace where all staff can succeed. VU offers a range of benefits and leave that aim to enhance and support your work and personal life.
