About the Role:
The Associate Director will be responsible for implementing the University’s federal and state government relations strategy, supporting VU's advocacy efforts on a wide range of funding, policy, and infrastructure priorities, and preparing presentations and submissions to government.
The Associate Director will develop relationships with key government stakeholders to advance the University’s priorities and manage the coordination of University-wide government relations activities.
This full-time role is being offered on continuing basis with a competitive base salary plus 17% superannuation contribution together with other benefits and flexible working options.
An example of the duties you may perform will include:
- Proactively manage the government relations activities with Federal and State Governments and other key external stakeholders for the University.
- Manage visits and events to Victoria University from Members of Parliament, Ministers and senior department representatives.
- Provide leadership and advice on government policy and issues impacting the University's strategic and business operations, including making recommendations for action and identifying risks.
- Develop advocacy documents, funding applications and proposals to State and Federal Government.
- Ensure positive working relationships and day-to-day communication with stakeholders and respond to enquiries from government officials and University staff.

- Demonstrated understanding of the political, parliamentary and legislative processes of government.
- A proven commitment to applying a high level of quality assurance and relevant policies, procedures and legislations.
- Excellent communication, cross-cultural, negotiation and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work autonomously in a high performing team environment.
