About the Human Resources Business Partnering (HR BP) Team:
Our Human Resources Business Partnering Team plays both an operational and strategic role partnering with people leaders at UNSW enabling them to achieve their people strategy and furthering meaningful work we do at UNSW as a leader in teaching and research. Each Faculty or Division of the University has a HR dedicated HR BP team led by an HR Business Partner and including HR Consultants and HR Officers.

Why Your Role Matters:
We’re seeking a HR Consultant to join the HR function supporting our professional Divisions. Play a meaningful role in the strategic direction and employee life cycle experience across your portfolio. Experienced in providing dedicated HR business partnering support, you’ll build trusted relationships across your client group to offer high-level HR solutions, strategies and advice across workplace and employee relations management. In this hands-on people-focused role, your day to day will include:
- Providing trusted HR advice and guidance to managers and employees in your client group
- Proactively partnering with clients to provide effective HR solutions, no two days are the same.
- Mentor and manage the portfolio's HR Office
- Offer employee lifecycle guidance from performance management to line management.
- Implementing HR policies and procedures and improvements as an expert in your field
- Maintaining up to date knowledge of HR legislation and practices
- Providing effective HR reporting and analysis for informed decision making
- Supporting and mentoring our HR Officers
Who You Are:
We're looking for a strong HR professional with substantial HR experience in a complex and client-centred environment; a strategically minded Consultant looking for their role. As a confident communicator you’ll hold excellent stakeholder management skills with a strong client focus, alongside the following skills and experience:
- A relevant degree with substantial experience in an HR Consultative role to autonomously manage a large and diverse client group.
- Practiced experience in independently managing employee relations across complex workplace matters (career progression, performance, health and grievances).
- Confidence in workforce planning guidance, offering guidance on sound job design principles considering existing roles and standard, guiding areas through workplace change.
- Strong influencing and negotiation skills to communicate with partners of all levels, a confident communicator with excellent stakeholder management skills.
- Experience in interpreting insightful business reports to develop and implement people planning strategies.
- Knowledge of relevant legislation, EA interpretation and fair work and ability to apply in the workplace.
- A solution-oriented mindset, comfortable managing different priorities whilst offering innovative and forward-thinking HR solutions, strategies and advice.
