About This Opportunity
In 2023 the UQ Medical School established eight geographically based Learning Communities four of which are within the Greater Brisbane Clinical School. The Learning Communities bring together students, academics, clinical teachers and professional staff to provide a home where students are engaged in learning from each other and are supported to flourish as they develop as a medical professional across the MD program.
The Deputy Head of the Central Learning Community Year 3 and 4 will contribute to the establishment and continual development of the Learning Community environment in a manner that promotes inclusivity and a sense of belonging for students and staff with the primary focus on providing a mutually supportive environment to allow medical students to flourish.
Key Responsibilities
- Teaching: Provide high-quality academic leadership and support for Year 3 and 4 students, including guidance, remediation, and career advice.
- Coordinate and oversee medical programs, ensuring effective clinical immersion experiences and engagement with learning activities.
- Contribute to staff training, monitor student progress, and participate in continuous professional development to enhance overall learning quality.
- Citizenship and Service: Consistently demonstrate behaviours that align to the UQ values.
- Contribute to a respectful, inclusive and culturally safe workplace and learning environment in the Greater Brisbane Clinical School and Central Learning Community.

About You
- Medical qualification and eligibility for registration as a medical practitioner in Australia.
- Appropriate combination of professional and academic service relevant to the field.
- An established profile in clinical teaching.
- Evidence of a substantial senior contribution to quality clinical teaching at undergraduate postgraduate and/or professional entry level.
- Expert discipline knowledge and extensive experience in a general or specialist capacity, including evidence of dissemination of new and innovative clinical techniques.
- A strong track record of participation in the development and continuous innovation of new programs, curriculum design and course material in the discipline area.
- A solid record of contribution to the supervision of trainees in clinical speciality training programs.
- A growing record of meaningful internal service roles in conjunction with demonstrated leadership roles in external activities that foster links within the profession and the relevant specialty, including developing consultancies in speciality areas.
In this role, you will be responsible for teaching and supervising medical students within the hospital. Applicants must hold a clinical position at Greenslopes Hospital to be considered for this opportunity.
The successful candidate may be required to complete a number of pre-employment checks, including right to work in Australia, education check, AHPRA registration, mandatory immunisations.
