About This Opportunity
The primary purpose of these positions is to engage, as a lecturer or senior lecturer, in undergraduate and postgraduate teaching, student supervision, and further development of the School’s undergraduate and postgraduate programs, as well as performing scholarship, administrative and other activities associated with the School. As a teaching-focused member of staff, the holder of the position will contribute to teaching and learning leadership in the school and will undertake work in the scholarship of teaching and learning (SoTL) and/or research in an area aligned with the school’s disciplines.
At least one of the positions is reserved for a candidate capable of coordinating and teaching large, early-year programming courses. The remaining positions are open to candidates aligned with any of the school’s disciplines.
Key Responsibilities will include:
- Teaching: Develop and deliver courses, engage in curriculum design, coordinate courses, assess students, provide academic counselling, and adhere to university teaching rules.
- Scholarship of Teaching and Learning/Research: Maintain an active record of producing quality research or scholarship of teaching outputs consistent with discipline norms, collaborate on teaching and research project and utilise best practice teaching and assessment methodologies.
- Supervision and Researcher Development: Supervise students, recruit and manage employees, provide performance feedback and training, resolve conflicts, and ensure correct remuneration and benefits.
- Citizenship and Service: Develop partnerships, demonstrate leadership through mentoring, engage in internal service roles and committees, perform administrative functions, provide support to colleagues, and uphold university values.

About You
For Appointment at Level B
Essential
- PhD in computer science, software engineering, computer engineering or electrical engineering or a related area; or equivalent combination of relevant experience and/or education/training.
- Demonstrated expert knowledge in a discipline area relevant to the school.
- Evidence of high-quality teaching, ideally in a variety of settings (undergraduate/postgraduate, small/large class, in-person/online).
- Track record of supervision of Honours student projects or equivalent to successful completion.
- Well-developed communication, interpersonal and consultative skills and the ability to work collaboratively with colleagues from a multidisciplinary background.
- Evidence of an emerging program of research (SoTL and/or discipline based) and publications in a relevant field.
Desirable
- Emerging record of supervision of higher degree by research students.
- Demonstrated involvement in university external engagement activities.
Additional to the above, Academic level C will also include:
- Demonstrated expert knowledge in a discipline area relevant to the school with national recognition of their achievements.
- Track record of supervision of Honours student projects (or equivalent) and Higher Degree by Research students to successful completion.
- Demonstrated leadership and service to domestic or international academic or professional bodies.
The successful candidate may be required to complete a number of pre-employment checks, including: right to work in Australia, criminal check, education check, etc.
